How to find cheaper flights, wherever you fly from
Practical ways to lower the price of a flight from any country: dates, airports, baggage, connections and when to ask a human agent.

The cheapest fare is usually found by being flexible on dates and airports, comparing the full price including bags, and avoiding school holidays and peak dates when you can.
1. Be flexible by a few days
Fares change by day of the week and by season. Flying out on a Tuesday or Wednesday is often cheaper than a Friday or Sunday. If you can move your dates by even two or three days, compare them side by side before you decide.
2. Avoid the busiest weeks
Demand is highest around school holidays, public holidays, Eid, Christmas and other big festivals in your country and your destination. If you must travel then, book early and expect higher prices. If you can travel in term time, the same route is often noticeably cheaper.
3. Compare the whole price, not just the headline fare
Two tickets with the same price can be very different. Check whether checked baggage, a meal and seat selection are included. A cheaper "hand luggage only" fare can cost more once you add a suitcase. See our guide to fare types and baggage.
4. Look at different airports
Your nearest big airport is not the only choice. A second airport within a few hours can have much better fares, sometimes with a connection. Compare the total cost including your travel to the airport.
5. Think about connections
A direct flight is quicker, but a one-stop flight can be cheaper. Check the layover time: very short connections risk a missed flight, and very long ones are tiring. Make sure the connection is on one ticket so the airline looks after you if the first flight is late.
6. Check the name and passport before you pay
The name on the ticket must match your passport exactly. Name changes can be expensive or impossible on cheap fares. Also check your passport has enough validity left for your trip.
7. Ask a person, not only a website
Fares and rules differ between airlines and change through the day. A travel agent can compare several options for your dates, explain the fare rules in plain words and confirm the final price in writing before you pay. That is what we do at Safarly: message us on WhatsApp with your dates and we will send the options.
Quick answers
When is the cheapest time to fly?
Usually outside school holidays, public holidays and festival periods, and on mid-week days such as Tuesday or Wednesday. Prices change daily, so compare a few dates.
Is a direct flight always more expensive?
Not always, but one-stop flights are often cheaper. Always check the layover length and that the whole trip is on one ticket.
Should I book months ahead?
Booking well before school holidays and peak dates usually helps. For quieter periods, prices can be good closer to departure, so compare rather than assume.
Rules, fees and entry requirements change. This guide is general information, not legal advice. Always check official sources and your supplier's terms before you book.
