Airport transfers: what to know before you book

How pre-booked airport transfers work, what to check, and why it can be easier than finding a taxi after a long flight.

By the Safarly team · Updated 1 November 2026 · 4 min read

A pre-booked transfer means a driver is waiting for you and you know the price before you land. Check pick-up details, waiting time and what happens if your flight is late.

Why book a transfer?

After a long flight, finding a taxi in an unfamiliar place can be tiring and stressful. A pre-booked transfer means a driver is expecting you and the price is agreed before you leave home.

What to check before you book

  • Pick-up point: do they meet you in arrivals with a name sign, or do you go to a meeting point?
  • Flight delays: will the driver track your flight, and how long will they wait?
  • Price: is it per car or per person, and are luggage and child seats included?
  • Cancellation: can you change or cancel if your plans move?

Keep the details handy

Save the booking confirmation and the driver's contact details on your phone, and share your arrival time with the person meeting you.

Quick answers

What if my flight is delayed?

Ask the provider before booking. Many track flights, but each company has its own waiting rules.

Is the price fixed?

Check the booking page. Most pre-booked transfers show the full price before you pay.

Rules, fees and entry requirements change. This guide is general information, not legal advice. Always check official sources and your supplier's terms before you book.
